Give-A-Toy Store by eBay
Scan. Pay. Receive. As Korea proved to us, QR code shopping on the way home in the underground is fast and convenient. Ebay took it one step further and used the concept to aid charity organizations.
In 2011 ebay unveiled the Give-A-Toy Store in New York and San Francisco. The innovative store provides smart phone users to window shop for toys. The interactive displays feature toys such as teddy bears and trains that represent donation amounts from $2 to $25. All the user has to do is choose a toy, scan the code with the eBay mobile app and pay for it. The toy is then send to the collaborating charity organization, Toys-for-Tots, as a donation.
The purchased toys give the feedback in their own way by coming to life for a few moments. As donations are made to Toys for Tots, the virtual toys celebrate and express their gratitude.
